It is always fun to try something new at Walt Disney World! This week my friend Cate and I tried the Happily Ever After Fireworks dessert party for the very first time!
Happily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party Review
We booked the Fireworks Dessert Party with Plaza Garden Viewing! Your night starts by checking in near Tomorrowland Terrace. Our check in time was 7:45pm, and by 7:15pm people were already lining up to check in. It doesn't appear there is any reason to line up that early, but to each their own!
Once you are checked in, they give you writsbands and escort you to your table (if you are looking for the Gluten Free review, you can skip over the next part until you see the new header!) and talk to you for a moment about the buffet.
There is a huge drink station that includes sparkling Apple Juice served in champagne glasses, water bottles, juice, tea, coffee, hot cocoa and milk. There was a s'mores station, and ice cream bar and then of course the dessert buffet! The buffet includes some sweet and savory items. They even had the famous cheeseburger egg rolls and ooey gooey toffee cake!
Of course, you can go up to the buffet as many times as you like!
Once you are all stuffed, but no later than 9:15pm, you head back down to the check in desk. Then they have a Cast Member escort you to the viewing area.
I want to note, that SO MANY people ate and ran. The dining area at Tomorrowland Terrace looked super full, but we were so tired we decided to hang out at our table for as long as we could. By 8:45pm, Cate and I were pretty much the only two people left in the dining area.
Once we were escorted to the viewing area, which was no where close to full, we headed to the back of the Hub Grass near the railing. The entire grass in front of us was full of people but no one looked cramped or uncomfortable. Pretty much everyone remained seated the entire time which was nice, and gave everyone a good view!
Another bonus we didn't expect, they have a photopass photographer that will take your photo with a special Happily Ever After sign at the party, and then in the viewing area as well. They even stay for the first 10 min of the fireworks if you want a photo with the fireworks in it!
Plaza Garden Viewing vs Tomorrowland Terrace Viewing
As far as I can tell, the only difference in these two parties is the cost, and where you actually watch the fireworks.
The Plaza Garden Viewing (the party we did) has you eating on the upper level of the terrace, you check in at 7:45pm and you are escorted to the hub grass for viewing.
The Tomorrowland Terrace Viewing is a little more expensive, eating on the lower level of the terrace, you check in at 8pm, and you watch from your seats there.
I have never done the Tomorrowland Terrace, but the view from the Hub Grass was SO GOOD I can't imagine needing to pay more to watch from the Terrace. It seems like you might have an obstruted view. Again, I am not 100% sure on this.
Overall Thoughts on the Dessert Party
Overall, I was super impressed! I think it's a great and calm way to see the Fireworks with out camping out for a spot or feeling cramped.
The amount of sweets and snacks is so insane, you could easily do this instead of dinner.
The kids that were at the event seemed to love it too, because they had room to play on the Hub Grass viewing area before the fireworks started.
I don't know how often I would do something like this, but it does make me want to do the other dessert parties at Walt Disney World!
Gluten Free Disney - Happily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party Review
When we booked this party, I tried to look around for some gluten free info on it and I couldn't find much!
I was so surprised to see the gluten free platter of goodies that got brought out to me!
First off, it's important that you note on your reservation that you are in need of an allergy meal. That way the Cast Members are ready for you when you arrive. When we checked in the Cast Member noted my allergy, and brought a coordinator over to chat with me.
He showed me what I could have off the buffet if I was comfortable grabbing from there but said he would also be bringing me out a platter from the back.
The platter featured: Pineapple Delight, Carmel Corn, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Dark Chocolate Dipped Strawberries, Mini Cupcakes, Brownies and Banana Bread
I was really impressed with the offerings and I didn't even come CLOSE to finishing this platter!
I would recommend this as an option to anyone with a Gluten Allergy, I didn't' feel like I was missing out on much of the goodies at all!
